Apparel Founder Guide to Los Angeles 2026
Los Angeles offers apparel founders year-round trade shows at the California Market Center including LA Market Week and the LA Textile Show. The Fashion District houses over 4,000 wholesale businesses for sourcing fabrics, trims, and production. Fashion incubators like ARGYLE Haus support emerging brands with development and manufacturing. Los Angeles Fashion Week, powered by Art Hearts Fashion, brings seasonal runway exposure. The city remains the leading U.S. apparel manufacturing hub.
Los Angeles is the country's largest apparel manufacturing hub. The Fashion District alone houses more than 4,000 independently owned wholesale and retail businesses selling apparel, footwear, accessories, and fabrics. For founders building brands, that density translates into shorter lead times, easier sample runs, and face time with suppliers you would otherwise only email.
The city's trade show calendar runs year-round. The incubator scene is small but growing. And if you need to source a zipper, find a dye house, or meet a patternmaker, you can often do it in a single afternoon.

Showrooms and sourcing fairs
The California Market Center operates as the central hub for West Coast wholesale. Since its inception in 1963, when the California Market Center (CMC) in Downtown Los Angeles first opened its doors as the region's premier wholesale fashion hub, the event has evolved into a key meeting point for industry professionals from around the world.
LA Textile Show is the leading Los Angeles fabric show, located exclusively at the California Market Center (CMC) since 1993. Bringing an international Exhibitor showcase of Textiles, Design Resources and Manufacturing Services to the LA Fashion District twice a year, the Textile Show caters to Fashion Brands, Fashion Designers, Product Development Teams and the Apparel Manufacturing Industry.
Buyers traveled to downtown Los Angeles for the city's textile events. The New Mart, Cooper Design Space and California Market Center hosted shows to draw in designers, brands and supply-chain experts to explore options in sourcing.
For domestic sourcing specifically, The Los Angeles Fabric Show at The New Mart focuses on lower minimums and U.S.-based suppliers.

What the Los Angeles apparel scene looks like in 2026
The Fashion Tech sector in Los Angeles saw a total funding of more than $1.14B in the last 10 years. The most amount of funding was in 2021 at more than $224M.
Current global issues involving tariffs, the TSA, and the slowing economy, were initially cited as concerns by exhibitors and attendees. Despite these headwinds, the Show displayed a steady turnout of exhibitors and attendees, with traffic consistent to this past October's Show. "This Show, we welcomed a fresh selection of new local and international exhibitors that reported a positive first experience at LA Textile," said Roxane Mirtolooi, Show Manager.
The tariff situation has pushed some brands back toward domestic production, which benefits LA's manufacturing base. The city's density of cut-and-sew contractors, sample rooms, and finishing houses makes it possible to prototype and produce without shipping samples overseas.
Los Angeles remains the default West Coast hub for apparel founders. The trade show calendar alone justifies multiple visits per year. Add the sourcing density and you have a city where you can actually build a brand without relying entirely on overseas partners.
The scene is here. The question is whether you show up.
